TIME FOR A GET-TOGETHER with family. I was meeting up with my cousins for pizza and BYOB at Pizza Napoletana: a perfect place to catch up.

Pizza Napoletana has been around since 1948 and is probably one of the best pizzas I have tasted in Montreal. The beauty is in its authenticity. I love Montreal, because you can experience different cultures without having to leave the city and this city institution is an example of that.

We were going to be a group of seven. Was it better to bring many bottles of one wine, or would a variety of different bottles? Sticking to one solid choice is the safe way to go, but with such a big crowd why not be more adventurous? This is a great opportunity to some some new bottles!


It’s nice to try several wines during the same seating. I decided to bring two Italian selections: two bottles of Carpineto Chianti Classico to start and two bottles of Follonari Valpolicella to follow. The first wine stole the show, so bold and flavorful! It was a bit unfair for the Follonari, which is light and fruity, a better pairing choice with dessert. The pizza and laughs were bountiful. A great night spent together. Dessert called for some cannoli’s: a perfect end to the night.
